mates of state, nada surf
i visited hmv again, this time with a girl i met in class. a couple of items were knocked off my wishlist.mates of state - bring it back
i first heard about this band after hearing a song of theirs on a punk compilation (wtf?). i had missed their show last week, so i got their most recent album instead. their keyboard-and-drums music is light and fun. a lot of sing-alongs, duets, overlapping vocals... their husband-and-wife act is oh-so-cute.
nada surf - the weight is a gift
most people have heard their song "popular" and not much else. but they are so much more than a one-hit wonder. this album is pure pop sweetness.
