depeche mode released their latest compilation, with mostly remixes of new songs, and new remixes of old songs. i got the three-disc edition:

one track in particular stands out to me: the sixtoes remix of "peace", with the addition of stringed instruments, making it a non-electro song. interesting...

i also like what trentemøller did with "wrong".

depeche mode

the new depeche mode album "sounds of the universe" was released almost two weeks ago. i had gone to the store to get it that day, but for some reason, i had completely forgotten to blog about it...

the store was selling the deluxe box set for $85. but i settled for the cd+dvd version, at only $20.

there is nothing new on this album, still the same dark-ish electro-pop depeche mode are known for.

l'échange / mont-royal

this week is my midterm break. so i shopped for some second-hand cd's today. it is a always a surprise to see what i will find. my first stop was at l'échange on mont-royal.

amon tobin - supermodified
i first found out about amon tobin after seeing the somewhat creepy video of "four ton mantis". i got this album for that song alone.

blutengel - child of glass
german electro with a gothic feel.

depeche mode - remixes 81-04 (limited 3-disc edition)
i have been drooling over this for a long while, but the $40 price tag at hmv kept me from buying it. i am so happy i waited, because i found it today at $18. so happy!

dan in real life - soundtrack
(new?) music from sondre lerche. i love his cover of "let my love open the door".

good bye, lenin! - soundtrack
i saw this movie years ago, and loved it. yann tiersen did the soundtrack, so it should be quite good.

depeche mode

depeche mode has too many releases for me to collect them all. instead, i have the singles compilation spanning 1981 to 1998, and the later "exciter".

just yesterday, i heard the live recording of their show at the bell centre in may 2006, so that put me in the mood to listen to some more depeche mode. and so, at the music store today, i finally picked up the more recent "playing the angel", just to keep up.

there are a couple of tracks that i like a lot, such as "lilian" and "i want it all".

depeche mode

almost every time i step into futureshop, i see some cd at some good price, and end up spending money. bad.

yesterday, i was waiting to meet mother after work. i passed by futureshop. i saw depeche mode's "the singles 81>85" and ended up getting it. i justified the purchase by telling myself that this is the companion to "the singles 86>98" that i already own and love.

listening to this, i found that early depeche mode sounds different. i also found out that "just can't get enough" is one of their songs. anyway, i like this compilation.
