personal life
two weeks ago, when i went to the store to get robyn's new release, i saw that the thermals have a new album out, "personal life". i feel like they've been releasing the same album over and over again, so i didn't pay any attention to it. until later that day, when i listened to a full album stream on npr. i was hooked by the fourth track or so.i returned to the store the next day to get the new release.

i've listened to it a couple of times now. sounds more or less like all their previous stuff. less angry, more pop, less loud, more mellow.
my favourite is the 'soft' song "never listen to me":
i also like "your love is so strong", which sounds the most like their old songs:

mono, the thermals
on saturday of last week, after having lunch with dad, i walked around downtown, shopping for a mother's day gift; i ended up getting a box of the white bark chocolate from laura secord that mom loves to much.i saw that cheap thrills finally got the new mono album "hymn to the immortal wind" in stock. i admit, i've already listened to the leak before. again, it's pretty much the same type of epic post-rock expected of mono, except they've included an orchestra on this album.
i also saw that hmv megastore got the new album "now we can see" by the thermals in stock. more indie rock with punk-ish influences.

maxïmo park, the thermals
yesterday, the weather was beautiful; sunny and warm, except for the stinking melting snow. i walked in a neighbourhood where i usually take the metro, and saw a used books/cd/dvd shop that i had never visited before. naturally, i had to check it out. to my surprise, i found two items that have been on my wishlist for a very long time.maxïmo park - a certain trigger
indie brit rock, of the post-punk variety. favourite track is "the coast is always changing". i love that accent (northern english?).
the thermals - fuckin a
indie rock, with some punk sloppiness to it. favourite track is "a stare like yours".
notice a theme?
